Transport SUP boards

6 easy ways to transport your board comfortably

The transport of inflatable SUP boards is much easier than that of hardboards. No wonder the inflatable models are also much more popular than the solid boards.

But without effort the transport still does not work – until now .

In this post, I’m presenting 6 variants that can help you to transport SUP boards.

1. transport straps

SUP trans straps or transport slings originally come from surfboards. Stand Up Paddling boards are just as suitable.

For the slings speaks the low weight and the small size of the loops. Curled up, they take almost no space away. The purchase price is also very low.

For longer walks, you can feel the load of the board already strong. In addition, the entire load is on just one shoulder and is therefore very one-sided.

2. SUP backpacks

SUP backpacks are one of the simplest and cheapest ways to carry a SUP board. From the boards, the air is released. Rolled up, they fit into the backpack.

With the weight of the backpack, the board and some accessories weighs around 10 to 15 kilograms. Thanks to adjustable shoulder straps, padding on the back and abdominal straps, the comfort is still guaranteed.

Often there are also loops for paddles or extra pockets for any accessories.

Some backpacks also have wheels so they can be pushed or pulled like a rolling suitcase.

3. SUP board trolleys

For longer distances the most convenient option is the transport by trolley. SUP board trolleys are no different from the models for kayaks and canoes.

With such a trolley, the effort is minimal. Once fixed, the board only has to be pushed.

In a separate amount I have already presented different trolleys for SUP boards.

4. SUP board bag

In boards, the boards are inflated stowed, stored and transported. The big advantage of the board pockets is that the boards do not have to be constantly inflated. Once inflated, you do not have to let the air out of the board before transport.

For SUP Board Transport, a board bag is pretty comfortable. All models have one (several) carrying handle (s). Some bags already have shoulder straps.

Depending on the SUP board you have to look for a suitable bag. In another article, I have already presented cool bags. Whether 320 cm Allround SUP, Touring or Race Board. Here you are sure to find:

5. Roof rack for SUP boards

Roof racks are the classic mounting option for Stand Up Paddling Boards on the car roof.

There are differences in attachment for SUP boards. However, a strap is often enough to secure a board to a roof rack.

6. Transport straps for the car roof

The minimalist solution for transport on the car roof are the transport and fixing straps for the car roof, which fasten the board directly to the car roof with a pad.

The advantages are apparent. The belts do not take up much space, are inexpensive to buy and can be used flexibly.

Without roof racks, the straps must pass through the car. This is not an option for longer trips. In the longer term, a fixed roof rack is the better option.
